Developing Tech Talent. Why Investing in Apprenticeships is Invaluable

Making Impact: Investing in Apprenticeships

You don’t need a degree to start a successful career at Transputec. You can earn a salary, learn from inspirational colleagues and help on client projects and services. Just do what you are good at – learn new skills and get your professional qualifications.” Alfie Charnock, Apprentice at Transputec.

February 2020 kicked off with National Apprenticeship Week celebrating the impact of apprenticeships on individuals, employers and the economy. This year’s theme was ‘Look Beyond’ highlighting the diverse range of apprenticeships available and the diversity in apprentices undertaking them.

Transputec has been supporting the apprenticeship programme for over five years. We are dedicated to developing the skills of young people in vocational roles, aligning with one of our key company values – self-improvement. We’re passionate advocates of growth and learning and our commitment to this is also exemplified via the Transputec Academy scheme, through which all employees train, develop, mentor and be mentored.

The apprentice programme brings huge benefits both to us as an employer and to our apprentices. Currently, we have seven apprentices working across our service teams who have completed or will complete their apprenticeships and we recognise their commitment and contribution to the business.

As Roann Etan, People Team Lead adds; “our apprenticeship programme is our commitment towards improving social mobility and it’s also about continuing to build our diverse and inclusive workforce. Not only are we proud of the progress they have made but also the fact that over 90% of our apprentices take on permanent roles in our company and have diversified their careers into the many technology specialisms available within Transputec.

Apprentices are an important talent pipeline for our businesses and an effective way to develop our motivated, skilled and award-winning teams. In short, investing in future skills and self-improvement with our apprentices is invaluable for our business growth and success. It’s win-win for Transputec and our esteemed tech talent.
