A few years ago, we launched our Corporate Social Responsibility programme, setting out our goals to become more environmentally friendly, implementing several green initiatives across our business to improve our overall carbon footprint.
We have made significant improvements, but now we are stepping up to the next level – moving towards becoming carbon neutral by becoming a Woodland Trust Corporate Member.
Taking our Corporate Social Responsibility seriously
As an IT services company, we take our responsibility towards the environment seriously. We launched our CSR programme in 2015, and since then we have successfully reduced our emissions by making greener decisions. We have chosen our data centre facilities carefully, innovatively reduced the number of servers we use for our business, and replaced inefficient appliances and hardware to become more energy efficient.
We have also encouraged a more green culture – employees are encouraged to take steps to reduce their carbon emissions from unplugging chargers at their desks to turning off lights that are not needed in their area of the office.
We believe that now is the time to move forward to the next stage – investing in our future by working with the Woodland Trust to become carbon neutral.
What is Woodland Trust Corporate Membership?
Woodland Trust Corporate Membership is a partnership between the Woodland Trust, the UK’s largest conservation charity, and businesses like ours, for the purpose of combating climate change, improving health and wellbeing, and boosting biodiversity.
By taking Woodland Trust Corporate Membership, we are supporting them to plant millions of trees across the UK. Each tree that is planted will become a carbon store, helping us mitigate our carbon emissions, and ultimately reducing our environmental impact.
Investing in our future – what comes next?
Our Woodland Trust Corporate Membership is just one element of our wider IT Sustainability agenda. We will continue to push for innovative ways to reduce our emissions, and we will continue to foster a green culture across our organisation.
And as for health and wellbeing – we look forward to mobilising our army of shovel wielding IT workers to help Woodland Trust actually plant our trees!
