Service Desk and Support Manager, Anca Otet talks about her recent win at this year’s CRN Women in Channel Awards.
“It is such a great honour to be named Manager of the Year, it was so unexpected, I was speechless when I first saw my name come on the screen! Firstly, I would like to pass on my thanks to the judges for choosing me for this year’s Manager of the Year, I would also like to thank Stuart, Sonny and Rickie for nominating me, and of course my teams and colleagues.
For me, good teamwork is when colleagues realise that working together is the easiest way to get things done and be successful. In my opinion, when you look back at your career, the highlights will never be the awards and promotions but the people you have worked with, so big thanks to all my colleagues, past and present.
When I was first nominated, I thought that by October the pandemic would have eased, and we would all be together at the ceremony. Unfortunately, this was not the case. However, it was great to be given the opportunity to experience something new with the virtual awards and it proved to be as entertaining as ever. The CRN event organisers did a great job and successfully showed how this kind of event could be adapted to a virtual format to cater for the current climate. I also loved the way nominees and colleagues made the most of social media to celebrate and share results as they unfolded.
I am just incredibly pleased the awards went ahead as normal as it is so important to continue to recognise the achievements of women working within IT Services. I am a firm believer in encouraging and supporting more women to advance their careers in every level of industry and particularly the Managed Services sector while attracting more women to enter the industry through mentorship and apprenticeship programs.”
This year’s Women in Channel awards saw 24 worthy winners crowned from across the industry. The judges were impressed with Anca’s leadership of a large, diverse team across several areas of the business, as well as her key role in the company’s growth and focus on developing her members within her team.
Huge congratulations from everyone at Transputec. This award is extremely well deserved and recognises the huge contribution Anca makes across our teams and to Transputec as a business.
