ISO Accreditation: Guaranteeing World Class Standards in Our IT Services

ISO Accreditation

As an award-winning IT Services company, we are proud to uphold the highest standards in the industry. One of the ways we do this is to attain certifications of global industry standards, such as the International Organization for Standardisation (ISO). To that end, we are proud to have secured the ISO accreditation 9001 for Quality Management and ISO/IEC 27001 for Information Management.

What are ISO Accreditations?

Launched in 1946, the International Organization for Standardisation (ISO) is an independent, global network of standards bodies. With a membership of 176 national standard bodies who are the leading standards organisations in their countries, they have developed an international set of standards for all industry sectors, which are agreed by experts across the world.

What is the ISO 9001?

ISO 9001 sets out criteria for a word class quality management and it can be applied to any sector and organisation. This ISO standard is based on several quality management principles including a strong customer focus, an organisation’s processes and approach, support from top management and a quest for continual improvement. It’s important to us at Transputec that we are certified in quality management systems such as the ISO 9001 so we can prove our ability to consistently provide IT services that meet our customer and stakeholders needs.

What is the ISO/IEC 27001?

This ISO sets the criteria for superior Information Management standards and practices to manage the security of assets whether that’s financial data, customer data, employee details or third-party information.

As an organisation that manages businesses’ infrastructure and confidential client data, we have high security standards in place already. However, being ISO 27001 certified demonstrates our compliance to Information Security Management (ISMS) standards and importantly, provides our customers with an assurance that their infrastructure and systems are fully secure.

By being fully certified, we can provide another layer of trust for our partners as we can prove that all required industry recommendations are followed, and we are 100% ISO compliant. In addition, the ISO accreditation through the regular audits, enables us to continually improve our systems and policies to increase performance and reduce risk.

How are ISOs assessed?

ISO are not involved in certification as this is done via independent external certification bodies that are approved by the ISO. Transputec are assessed by LRQA who a leading global assurance provider with expertise in certification, cybersecurity, inspection, and training.

ISOs 9001/27001 are assessed two ways. Firstly, we are assessed by our internal auditors who audit our company processes to ensure we are adhering to the ISO standards set. We are then audited by an independent external auditor, and this happens twice a year.

To attain our ISO certification, we needed to demonstrate via assessments and documentation that we have the relevant processes and procedures in place that are required and that they match the requirements of the ISO standard.

Working with an auditor, the first assessment examined our existing processes to find any areas of improvement. The second examines those areas to ensure we’ve made the improvements required to achieve certification. In short, we need to demonstrate how and what quality and information management standards we utilise every day to deliver our IT services.

It can typically take 2-3 years for organisation to achieve their ISO, however, due to the diligence of our teams, we managed to achieved ISO 27001 in under a year which we are all very proud of.

Who are your ISO champions?

Our ISO champion is Sharon Campbell, and we also have a dedicated ISO committee who manage, lead, and steer our initiatives. However, our ISO certification can only be achieved and maintained with the and commitment from everyone at Transputec, from the Board to all our employees in all regions, their dedication to high standards on an everyday basis is imperative.

Why are ISOs so important?

To sum up, ISOs, provide us, our customers, and suppliers with an assurance they will receive consistent, high-quality services from us that conform to an international standard. It also makes it easy for us to standardise our working practise by conforming to a framework which sets out the standards in a simple yet systematic way.

Most importantly, it facilitates our teams to make constant improvements to internal processes and efficiency which reflects one of our core company values of continual self-improvement.
