The Project Overview
An international sports governing body wanted to bring Microsoft 365 Copilot into its workforce without compromising data governance, security or compliance. Transputec delivered a phased Microsoft 365 Copilot adoption programme, from a Copilot readiness assessment through a structured pilot to handover and insight, giving the organisation clear technical assurance, enabling users and providing an evidence base for decisions on wider rollout and licensing.
The Challenge
The organisation saw a strong opportunity to use Microsoft 365 Copilot to improve productivity and help staff work more efficiently. Before introducing Copilot more widely, however, it needed confidence on several fronts: that its Microsoft 365 environment was technically ready; that it had properly assessed and understood data governance, security, and compliance risks; and that it could introduce Copilot without compromising the confidentiality or integrity of organisational data.
It also wanted users supported through structured Copilot user enablement, and evidence from a Microsoft Copilot pilot programme to inform decisions on wider deployment and licensing.
That meant finding a trusted Microsoft 365 Copilot deployment partner that could provide technical assurance and structured user enablement aligned with Microsoft best practice and the organisation’s governance requirements.
What We Did
Transputec worked closely with the organisation to deliver a phased Microsoft 365 Copilot adoption programme, taking full ownership of the technical workstream while supporting its adoption and governance objectives. The engagement ran across three phases.
Discovery began with a detailed Copilot readiness assessment of the Microsoft 365 environment. Transputec reviewed data security, governance, access controls and Copilot prerequisites across SharePoint, Teams, Microsoft Purview and Microsoft Graph, and produced a Discovery Report setting out findings, risks, gaps and prioritised recommendations.
The pilot phase delivered a structured Microsoft Copilot pilot programme involving users across different roles and functions, supported by workshops, guidance materials and hands-on Copilot user enablement sessions, with early-life support focused specifically on Microsoft 365 Copilot usage.
Handover and Insight closed the engagement. Transputec demonstrated Copilot dashboards, usage reporting and adoption analytics, helped the organisation define success metrics and Copilot adoption measures, and provided recommendations to inform decisions on wider rollout, governance ownership and licence allocation.
The Impact
By the end of the pilot engagement, the organisation had clear visibility of its technical readiness for Microsoft 365 Copilot and confidence that Copilot could be introduced in line with its data protection, Microsoft Purview governance and security requirements.
The validated Microsoft Copilot pilot programme demonstrated real-world usage across different roles and scenarios and gave the organisation practical insight into user adoption patterns, usage behaviour and training needs.
Together, this created a strong foundation for informed decisions on wider Copilot deployment, licensing strategy and ongoing governance ownership. The structured Microsoft 365 Copilot adoption programme enabled the organisation to embrace AI without undue risk, building the internal capability and confidence required for future phases.
