The user requests a device via your client service desk. The desk requests Transputec services to identify and release an available device in the local locker or vending machine.

Communicate

Transputec services updates the ITAM/ITSM ticket and contacts the user with a time-limited release code for the local locker or vending machine.

Vend

The user approaches the locker or vending machine and inputs the release code. The correct compartment opens automatically and the device or item is dispensed.

Record

Transputec service desk updates ITAM/ITSM with the successful collection and records the asset serial number and tag.

Replenish

Replenish

Transputec service desk initiates replenishment on the next scheduled visit via the ITAM/ITSM ticket. Once replenished, the ticket is updated.

Digital Lockers FAQ

A digital locker is an internet-connected secure cabinet that holds IT equipment — laptops, loaners, peripherals, returns — and authenticates users via smartphone, PIN or biometric scan before unlocking the right compartment. Every collection and return is logged automatically. Transputec designs, deploys and manages the full estate end-to-end as part of our IT Procurement Services.

Both products authenticate the same way and integrate with your ITSM the same way. Digital Lockers have 11 doors per unit, with 10+ satellite-locker connections, and are available in both indoor and outdoor models — best for laptops, loaners and mixed items. Digital Vending Machines have customisable item slots, indoor-only — best for smaller items like peripherals and accessories. Both can be deployed alongside each other across multi-site rollouts.

Five steps: Request → Communicate → Vend → Record → Replenish. The user requests a device via your service desk, Transputec issues a time-limited release code, the user enters the code at the locker or vending unit, the correct compartment opens, and the asset and timestamp are recorded in ITAM/ITSM. Replenishment is scheduled on the next visit.

ServiceNow integration is supported out of the box. Other ITSM platforms can be integrated. Asset tracking integrates with your ITAM or ITSM tool of choice. See ServiceNow documentation for platform context.
