The Overview
Woodland Trust, the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity, embarked on a network modernisation programme to improve resilience, standardise infrastructure, and simplify network management across its estate. As part of this initiative, the organisation needed to replace ageing switching infrastructure at its Grantham site while aligning the environment with its existing Cisco Meraki architecture.
Transputec delivered a structured Cisco Meraki network upgrade, enabling Woodland Trust to transition from legacy hardware to a cloud-managed network platform with minimal operational disruption.

The Customer
The Woodland Trust is dedicated to protecting, restoring, and creating native woodland across the UK. To support its long-term digital transformation goals, the organisation is modernising its network infrastructure to improve visibility, operational efficiency, and service reliability across multiple locations.
The Challenge
Woodland Trust needed to replace ageing Dell switches at its Grantham site while standardising its network infrastructure around Cisco Meraki. The organisation required a seamless migration that preserved VLAN configurations, maintained critical services, and minimised disruption to day-to-day operations.
Our Approach
Transputec delivered a Cisco Meraki network upgrade through a phased migration approach. The new environment was preconfigured, deployed floor by floor, and thoroughly validated to ensure uninterrupted connectivity, preserve the existing network architecture, and align with Woodland Trust’s wider cloud-managed networking strategy.
The Outcome
The project successfully modernised Woodland Trust’s network infrastructure with a fully cloud-managed Cisco Meraki platform. The organisation gained improved resilience, centralised visibility, simplified network management, and a scalable foundation for future digital transformation, all delivered within planned change windows.
