Technical IT Manager

Role Description
This role is a hands on customer focused technical IT manager and will be required to provide support, management and strategic direction in relation to all internal systems.

Hands on customer focused technical IT manager required to provide support, management and strategic direction of our internal systems.

Main responsibilities

  • Complete audit (hardware, software, cloud-based services, internet)
  • Review IT systems and Services
  • Agree protocol and process for internal support
  • Establish a plan to be developed to ensure we have:
  • Appropriate support processes and mechanisms
  • Required levels of security of network and hardware
  • Back-up and disaster recovery and testing of such plans
  • Migrate to cloud
  • Medium term plan and 12 months Operating and Financial Budget
  • Managing Desktop imaging service and engineers (client facing service)

End-to-end IT systems audit

  • Plan and execute a holistic audit of current IT system
  • Identify weaknesses and implement fixes
  • Review access rights and security permissions
  • Review back-up and disaster recovery

Managing the day-to-day IT function

  • Resolve any existing issues e.g. printing, access to accounting system
  • Agree protocol and process for ongoing short-term user support (hardware and software)
  • Network and access support for c. 50 staff of whom c. 50% work from home at any point in time
  • Ensuring back-ups of servers (on site) occurs
  • Managing telephony system
  • Providing access (where approved) for new starters and disabling access for leavers
  • Maintaining and updating company websites
  • Managing timely system upgrades

Design, Develop & Improve the future of the IT function

  • Appropriate service desk and support processes
  • Required levels of security of network and hardware
  • Migrate to the cloud
  • Medium term plan and 12 months Operating and Financial Budget
  • Standardisation of everyone’s EUC

Documenting the system & processes

Process and policy document review every six months to ensure up to date and in line with ISO requirements.

Managing Suppliers

Conduct supplier reviews with existing suppliers in accordance with review requirements e.g. strategic suppliers every quarter.

Managing Desktop imaging service and engineers

Review, Manage, enhance the desktop imaging service and engineers to ensure a smoother automated process and technologies are utilised to deliver to both internal and client service requirements to agreed SLA’s.

Team Management

  • Manage day to day activities and workload for your team
  • Hold quarterly Balance scorecard review meetings with individual staff and document
  • Ensure any issues or complaints raised are appropriately addressed, managed or escalated
  • Manage day to day resource allocation including holidays, sickness, etc.
  • Manage teams to deliver new services and enhancements e.g. intune deployments

Requirements

  • 7+ years’ experience with relevant qualifications
  • Broad based IT skills – Microsoft products
  • Very operational and capable to develop an IT medium term operational and financial plan
  • Microsoft 365
  • Strong communications skills, process oriented

  • Desktop and Network infrastructure experience eg, VMWare, Storage, basic networking etc
  • SCCM/Intune or other
