A report out this week has revealed that the demand for IT security professionals in the UK has risen by more than 50% over the last 12 months, as cyber security moves to the top of the corporate agenda. According to the Tech Cities Job Watch report, there is a growing demand in particular for permanent roles as IT security specialists.
This growth in demand has led to a shortage of suitably skilled staff, especially in London, and an increase of 5% in the average salary for a full time IT security specialist to over £62,000 in the capital. The report concludes that the demand for IT security talent is at an all time high and that companies are willing to pay more than ever before to bring in the right people with the right experience to plug the gaps in their organisational security.
With salaries rising and not enough experienced specialists out there to fill the gaps, along with the 24/7 requirement for network monitoring and remediation, CIOs and CTOs could be forgiven for wondering whether there not a better way to do this. Well, fortunately for all you CIOs and CTOs out there, there is!
Cyber Security as a Service can deliver 24/7 IT security expertise at the highest level without having first to find and then employ a highly paid full-time roster of experts on your payroll. CSaaS is a software licensing and delivery model in which the software is provided on a subscription basis by the provider, along with the specialist support to make use of that software to identify and remediate any threats that are spotted.
One such service, that Transputec can provide, is the ThreatSpike behavioural monitoring solution. ThreatSpike is targeted at suspicious activity inside your corporate security perimeter, being conducted either by your own users or by hackers who have managed to already penetrate your system. It operates through an appliance and agents that are plugged into the network core that monitor internal network traffic and user behaviour to spot signs of unusual or suspicious activity.
ThreatSpike is just one great example of the CSaaS model, there are many others out there. CSaaS delivers technology and cyber security experts, virtually, all in one place on a 24/7 basis to ensure that client networks are always protected. So you do not need to worry about the cost and difficulty of acquiring your own specialist team. You can simply bring in the expertise as and when you need it, or have it available on tap 24/7.
